MWOYEYO (뭐예요)

LEARN WORD NO. 55: MWOYEYO

IN HANGUL: 뭐예요

What is the meaning of the korean word "mwoyeyo"? The korean word "mwoyeyo" which is written in hangul as "뭐예요" is used to say or ask "what?" in korean. If you want to ask for someone's name in korean you can say "ireum-i mwoyeyo? (이름이 뭐예요?)". On this example question, "mwoyeyo" is similar to "what is" of the english language. So if we attach "mwoyeyo" to "ireum" it will result to a phrase similar to asking "what is your name?". On informal setting, you can say "what" by just saying "mwo (뭐)", but remember that this is only applicable on informal setting, be careful on using "mwo" as it can sound disrespectful especially to those you are not close with and to the older ones.
