LEARN WORD NO. 11: BANGAPSEUMNIDA IN HANGUL: 반갑습니다 At this point in time we already know how to say hello (annyeong haseyo, annyeong hasimnikka, annyeong), thank you (gamsahamnida, or gomawo), goodbye (annyeonghi gaseyo, annyeonghi gyeseyo, annyeong), sorry (joesonghamnida), excuse me/to call the attention of someone (jeogiyo) and excuse me/to pass through a crowd (jamsimanyo).  Now we'll be studying more words, and our 11th word is "Bangapseumnida". Let's start with settling the hangul for this word. If you would notice the third syllable which is 습 is pronounced as "seum" instead of "seup". As mentioned on our previous discussions, it is normal in Korean language to transform "p" to "m" when "p" is followed by an "n" sound. LEARN WORD NO. 6 : JAMSIMANYO (잠시만요) If we cannot use "jeogiyo" to pass through a crowd of people, what should I use? You may use "jamsimanyo". This word literally means "just a second". While passing through a crowd, you can tell people "just a second" to express that you'll need some space to pass and walk through. This is also used to tell someone to wait for a second. This is already in casual and polite form. GAMSAHAMNIDA (감사합니다)

LEARN WORD NO. 3: GAMSAHAMNIDA (감사합니다) Second to "annyeong haseyo", I believe, "gamsahamnida" is the next most famous korean word. How do we use gamsahamnida? How do we write it? How do we pronounce it? Check this lecture video out! Going back to our lesson on korean vowels and consonants, we know that this word can also be romanized as "kamsahamnida" since the character "ㄱ" giyeok can be interchangeably translated as "g" or "k".  It is also notice-able that the "ㅂ" character on the third syllable (which is 합) is not pronounced as "hab/hap" but is pronounced as "ham". The reason behind this is that, in korean, when the "ㅂ" character is followed by a nieun or "ㄴ" character, it (bieup/ㅂ) becomes a mieum/ㅁ sound. LEARN WORD NO. 5: JEOGIYO (저기요) When we are in a restaurant while we are in South Korea, how do we call the attention of one of their staff? We can use "Jeogiyo".  The word jeogiyo actually means "right here!". It's the same as saying "come here" to tell about your concerns to the waiter or staff. In english, we also use "excuse me" to call the attention of someone, we can also use "jeogiyo" for that same context.  Just take note that "jeogiyo" can be used to say "excuse me" to call the attention of someone but not to address people while passing through.  Let's learn more about "jeogiyo" from this lecture video.
